DLD: TV reloaded

There is a lot of discussion going on about the Joost model (here and here) but not in todays panel. Joos was not questioned, although Niklas was not giving good statements. He was something like: Content is key, users will win, small contet creaters will win, but it’s important to have top brands. Also he didn’t want to talk about how much money he is making or even intent to make with Joost. But he said it’s important to expereiment with advertising. But I liked the statement, that there is no doubt that TV advertising money will get inti internet video advertising, just becasue TV advertising is such a bad thing to do.

Not much smart new stuff from Patrick either.  Youtube has now in Video advertising for 10-20 $ CPM and they are still experimenting. And he was telling us stories about how You Tube helps to recruit talent, mainly singers.

Suranga told a nice story on how he thinks Satelite TV would not be possible without a remote and he wants blinkx to be that remote for internet video. Also he was telling us that they are planning 4 mio $ revenue this year and try to be break even.

Dina was the only one who could say that they give out checks to producers. We liked this part.

Besides this, the usual stuff:

  • Internet Video is good for consumers and advertisers because you can target advertising
  • Amateurs become professionals
  • There will be a lot of winners
