Erster ist nicht unbedingt bester.

Twitter Erfolg hängt nicht nur von der Geschwindigkeit ab:

Twitter time stamp reveals who broke Favre story: Remember back in the old days when you’d compare the time stamps on email breaking news alerts to see which media company broke a story first? (Which was a little inaccurate, because email doesn’t all arrive at the same time.) Well, now there’s Twitter, and yesterday I linked to a story about WCCO claiming it broke the Favre story first by sending out a tweet. But WISN says they broke it first, also with a tweet, and they have proof: the Twitter time stamp is four minutes earlier. But wait, WDAM, the station in Hattiesburg, MS, posted a tweet 17 minutes earlier than that.

But isn’t it interesting how WCCO gained much more viral momentum on Twitter than WISN and WDAM? A look at Twitter search reveals that retweets mentioning “WCCO” and “Favre” outnumbered WISN retweets 15-to-1. Sure, WCCO has a few more followers (7,500 compared to 2,200), and WCCO reporter Jason DeRusha (who is a Twitter addict), retweeted the news moments later to his 3,100 followers. And WISN’s tweet is a little more vague than the one sent out by WCCO. And yes, WCCO is in Minneapolis, where Favre is now playing, and WISN is in Milwaukee. But under the mysterious laws of social science, WCCO grabbed the viral spotlight despite tweeting the news four minutes later than WISN. Sure, speed matters on Twitter, but it isn’t everything.
